About

Peyton Burgess writes and teaches in Richmond, Virginia, where he's currently the Emerging Technologies Program Manager at Virginia Commonwealth University and an instructor of courses on creative writing and project management. 


He received his BA in English from Loyola University New Orleans, his MFA in Creative Writing from New York University, and his PhD in Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. Peyton has extensive experience helping leaders across diverse venues leverage technology to design effective learning experiences, and has previously worked as a senior instructional designer and learning technologist. He's the author of the short story collection The Fry Pans Aren’t Sufficing, and is currently working on a novel and has published excerpts at The Paris Review, Tin House online, Joyland Magazine, Autre, and The Catamaran Literary Reader. Other work has appeared in McSweeney's Internet Tendency, The Paris Review Daily, New Orleans Review, and Chicago Quarterly  Review. 


Peyton offers consultation services on emerging technologies, program and project management, and fiction and nonfiction writing.
