"As a mentor and an editor, Peyton always met my work on its own terms. With generosity and humor, he helped unearth and uplift the gems hidden in even my roughest drafts. The excitement he brought to every meeting helped me begin to feel excited about my own writing for the first time. Working with Peyton is an experience I have continued to cherish throughout my writing life and beyond."
"Peyton is not a writing teacher or an editor. He is more of an essential guide as you navigate the minefield of creation, criticism and learning the hard lessons over and over again. He helped me on several occasions with short story work, novel structure and characterization. I always felt like I was a better writer for my interactions with him, rather than a brow-beaten amateur as some writing teachers tend to do."
John Gaffney
"Peyton's feedback on some of my earliest work made me realize that I could write my way into a whole life. I would have never thought to settle on writing without his encouragement, help, and candidness."

This series of short, asynchronous Canvas courses was a collaborative effort I coordinated as Instructional Design Lead at VCU Online. Instructional designers, learning technology specialists, and I worked together to create these 1 hour courses in response to the diverse needs of faculty whose busy schedules prevent them from being able to attend live workshops and professional development sessions.
The screenshots above provide sample content from a training course I created for parole officers who were tasked with moving their officer training online and needed technological and pedagogical instruction. Trainers completed this course to help them learn how to redesign and present their instructional content in Relias and choose appropriate learning activities.
I also consulted with each of the trainers to help them design their own online training courses.
The image above is content from a short asynchronous course "Managing Large Courses," which I created as Instructional Design Lead at VCU Online. The course was designed for VCU faculty and exposed learners to best practices for managing large courses in Canvas and some of the design and teaching strategies that can help faculty engage students, especially in the context of large enrollment courses. This course took a unique approach to integrating both technological and pedagogical learning outcomes.
